As A Result of Storm There Are A Number of School Closures in the Peterborough, Northumberland and Quinte West Areas for Tuesday, May 24

In Editor Choice, Local

In consideration of the following:

  • continued power outages;
  • recommendations in some regions to avoid unnecessary travel;
  • safe school facility operations;
  • ongoing clean-up and emergency services work; and,
  • active power restoration efforts, in many communities;

the following schools/regions of schools will be CLOSED tomorrow (Tuesday, May 24) to students and non-essential staff.

City of Peterborough and Peterborough County Closures

ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED

Northumberland County and Quinte West Closures

Hastings Public School

North Hope Central Public School

Percy Centennial Public School

Plainville Public School

Roseneath Centennial Public School

Municipality of Clarington Closures

Enniskillen Public School

All of the identified schools will be closed tomorrow, including those that currently may have power, and/or even if power is restored at those sites later this evening or overnight.

As a result of ongoing connectivity and power challenges, closed schools will not move to online learning for the day.

Virtual schools ARE ALSO CLOSED for the day.

All transportation to these identified schools is cancelled for the day.

As always, families should consider their own local circumstances when travelling to and from school, and we encourage everyone to be safe in walking or driving to schools that will be open. We also understand that some families may choose not to attend schools that remain open, depending on their personal circumstances and challenges related to this weekend’s storm.
