Durham Regional Police – Suspect Arrested After Fleeing in a Stolen Vehicle (Name Released)

A suspect was arrested after fleeing in a stolen vehicle which was also involved in a collision in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at approximately 10:15 a.m. members of Central West Division were dispatched to a stolen vehicle call in the area of Laval Drive. The suspect stole an Acura MDX SUV from a commercial lot. The victim attempted to intervene and suffered minor injuries when the suspect drove off.

The suspect was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Highway 401. A member of the Tactical Support Unit that responded to the call located the collision and arrested the driver without incident.

Charles O’BRIEN, age 42, of Oshawa is charged with: Theft Over $5,000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm and Leave Accident Scene Fail to Give Name. 

 He was held for a bail hearing.
