Quinte West OPP – Couple Charged Following Neglect Investigation

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people following an investigation into apparent child neglect.

The investigation, conducted under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, began on February 5, 2022 after a young person required hospital treatment.

Two individuals were arrested March 28, 2022 and have each been charged wit h Failing to Provide the Necessaries of Life, section 215(2)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Names will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The child is now in alternate care and accommodations.

The protection of children is a paramount priority. If anyone believes a child is in need of protection, contact the OPP, your local police service or your local Children’s Aid Society.
