Cobourg Police – Person Charged with Fail to Leave Premises (No Name Released)

On Monday, March 21, 2022, at about 5:50 p.m., a man entered the lobby of the Cobourg Police Station demanding police arrest an individual he had an altercation with earlier in the day. The man became aggressive and was asked to leave several times. The man refused to leave.

As a result, the 39-year-old Cobourg man was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act. The man resisted arrest and became combative with police, resulting in minor damage to the property.

The man was charged with the following offences:

1. Fail to leave premises when directed contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Trespass to Property Act

2. Mischief Under $5,000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

The man was released on an Undertaking and Provincial Offence Act Summons with a court date of May 4, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
