Cobourg Police – Woman Charged with Theft and Assault (No Name Released)

On March 15, 2022, at 5:42 p.m., police were called to a store near Elgin Street West and Rogers Road in response to a report of shoplifting. It was reported that a woman assaulted an employee as she exited the store with an unknown quantity of items that she did not purchase.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, police on general patrol located the woman downtown Cobourg. As a result of the police investigation, the woman was arrested, and police found a small quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine.

The 35-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 355B of the Criminal Code

3. Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code

4. Possession of a Controlled Substance to wit Crystal Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

5. Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The woman was released on an undertaking and a scheduled court date on May 18, 2022
