Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Assault and Mischief

On Sunday, March 12, 2022, at 4:00 a.m., police were called to a residence near Glenhare Street and Frei Street in the Town of Cobourg in response to a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend had attended the home, assaulted her, and damaged her vehicle.

Police investigation revealed that the man was currently bound by an Undertaking with conditions not to attend the address or communicate with the complainant. As a result, the man was arrested. Upon arrest, police located a small quantity of suspected cocaine in his possession.

As a result, the 24-year-old Cobourg man was charged with the following offences:

1. Two counts Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code

2. Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

3. Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code

4. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The man was held for a show cause hearing and later released on a release order with several conditions and a future court date. The name of the accused will not be released to protect the victim’s identity.
