Municipality of Port Hope Hosting In-Person Workshops to Gather Feedback on Waterfront and Riverwalk Master Plan

This spring, residents of Port Hope are invited to participate in workshops that are aimed at gathering feedback to influence the design of the Municipality’s Waterfront and Riverwalk Master Plan, with various in-person sessions to suit many interests.

“Community engagement efforts using online tools for the Waterfront and Riverwalk Master Plan have been underway for months now and we have collected some wonderful ideas and comments to date,” notes Mayor Sanderson, Mayor of the Municipality of Port Hope.

“We are finally able to host in-person workshops and have conversations with our residents to discuss, in real time, the aspects of the waterfront and river that are important to them. These workshops will help us to shape a plan that includes the wants and needs of the community, and I encourage everyone to participate.”

This initiative is a community focused exercise that will create unique and innovative waterfront and riverwalk areas. These areas will be integrated with the natural environment and enhance connectivity, walkability, livability, and quality of life for residents and visitors. The comprehensive, innovative, and achievable Master Plan will serve as a blueprint for implementation and will guide investment with the intention of supporting the Municipality’s commitment to a high quality of life for residents and for those who will come to enjoy all that Port Hope has to offer.

Staff have planned various in-person workshops to provide the community with ample ways to participate, including:

• Walkshops – join staff for a walk along the Riverwalk and learn about the key areas of focus for the Waterfront and Riverwalk Master Plan. Share your ideas and thought for future development of these areas while enjoying a hot beverage from Queenies Bakeshop on us!

• Talkshops – join staff and volunteers to learn about the development of the Waterfront and Riverwalk Master Plan. Have your say about opportunities for development and important considerations.

• Coffeeshops – join staff at one of the amazing venues along Port Hope’s waterfront and riverwalk to discuss the development of the Plan. Share your ideas for future development and have your say about what is important to you.

Additional details about the workshops, including dates and times and reservation links are available at myporthope.ca/waterfront.

An online comment form is also available on the website, for those who wish to provide their feedback virtually
