Peterborough County OPP – Numerous Stunt Drivers Charged

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged several driver’s with stunt driving on February 28 and March 1, 2022.

February 28, 2022:

(MANVERS TOWNSHIP, ON)-Shortly after 2:15pm, officers were completing a traffic stop on the shoulder of Highway 115 when they were passed by three vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicles were clocked at speeds ranging from 150km/h to 180km/h in a posted 100km/h zone. All three vehicles were stopped on Highway 115 near Porter Road.

A 20 year old driver of Cambridge, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

A 21 year old driver of Peterborough, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

A 22 year old driver of Bowmanville, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

(CAVAN-MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)– Shortly after 9:00pm, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 160km/h in a posted 100km/h zone on Highway 115.

A 21 year old driver of Innisfil, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)-Shortly before 11:00pm, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 133km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7.

A 23 year old driver of Burlington, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

The accused had their driver’s licences suspended for 30 days and vehicles impounded for 14 days.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 11, 2022.

March 1, 2022:

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)-Shortly before 4:30pm, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 143km/h in a posted 80km/h zone on Highway 7.

A 26 year old driver from Emily Township, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

(CAVAN-MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON)-Shortly before 5:00pm, officers clocked a vehicle travelling at 160km/h in a posted 100km/h zone on Highway 115.

An 18 year old driver from Six Nations of the Grand River, Ontario was charged with:

• Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

The accused had their driver’s licences suspended for 30 days and vehicles impounded for 14 days.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 9, 2022.
