Balloons on Lake Ontario Attract the Attention of Emergency Services in Port Hope

A number of balloons attracted a bit of attention along the Lake Ontario shoreline in Port Hope on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

Port Hope Police were notified of something on a ice flow approximately 270 metres from the shoreline of Lake Ontario at the east end of Lake Street shortly after 4 p.m.

When police were unable to identify what the object was, Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene for a possible ice water rescue.

Shortly after, the object was confirmed to be approximately 15 balloons with some stating “Happy Birthday” on them.
