City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – A Number of People Charged With Impaired Driving Over the Holidays

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made several impaired driving arrests over the holiday season thus far.

On December 19, 2021 just before 10:00 pm on Cottage Road, in Mariposa Township, officers were called to a single vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck and a hydro pole.

Stuart DELL, 57 years-of-age, of Little Britain has been charged with; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January, 13, 2022.

 

On December 22, 2021 shortly before 7:00 pm on Monk Road in Somerville Township, officers were called to a collision of a single motor vehicle into the ditch.

As a result of the investigation Jaime KENT, 45 years-of-age, of Trent Lakes has been charged with;

  •  Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January, 13, 2022.

 

On December 23, 2021 at approximately 11:30 am on County Road 121 Trent Lakes officers received multiple calls from concerned citizens regarding a suspected impaired driver. Officers located and stopped the driver.

Jeanette PETERS, 59 years-of-age, of Kinmount has been charged with;

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January, 20, 2022.

 

Just after midnight on December 30, 2021 officer received a call from a passerby regarding a single motor vehicle into the ditch on Country Line Road Fenelon Township.

Ian FRASER, 33 years-of-age, of Fenelon Township, was arrested and charged with; Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 13, 2022.

 

In addition to being arrested and criminally charged, all of the aforementioned driver’s had their licences suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

This holiday season as we ring in the New Year the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP would like to remind motorists to plan ahead when con suming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.

Citizens can also help to keep impaired drivers off our roads. If you suspect an impaired driver, please “Make the Call” and dial 9-1-1 to save a life.
