Frankford Huskies – Game Postponement and New Proof of Vaccination Requirements

In Hockey

Out of an abundance of caution, the Frankford Huskies games this weekend are postponed.

Director of Operations Frank Robinson says, “Due to the evolving situation and rapid spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19, we felt it was best to be safe.  I talked with our management team, and those of our opponents, we were in agreement from the beginning.  We owe it to our fans, volunteers, city staff, the Frankford Lions, our opponents and our players to be safe.”

The games affected are as follows:

Friday December 17, 2021 – Frankford Huskies @ Napanee Raiders – 7:30 pm

Saturday December 18, 2021 – Amherstview Jets @ Frankford Huskies – 7:50 pm.

“We will talk with Amherstview and Napanee over the coming days, and will decide on appropriate times to make up the games,” finished Robinson

In other Huskies news, starting Monday December 20, 2021, proof of vaccination will be required for youth aged 12 to 17 going into Frankford Arena.  Also, starting Tuesday January 4, 2022, staff will check vaccination status using the Verify Ontario app.  Proof of vaccination must include a printed or digital QR code. Vaccine certificates with QR codes can be downloaded at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/

These additional requirements from the Government of Ontario could lead to longer wait times for admission to the facilities. Visitors to the facility are encouraged to have their vaccine certificate with QR code and ID ready upon entry.

Director of Business Tim Durkin says, “If fans require assistance downloading or printing the QR Code, we will be happy to help.  Email – frankfordhuskies@gmail.com  We also wish to thank the leadership from Quinte West Council and Staff, with the focus of keeping residents, fans, volunteers and players safe.”
