Neighbourhood Griswold Lights Up His Street in Cobourg Celebrating the Season

In Community, Local

A Cobourg man has created a outdoor winter woodland in his front yard at 276 Lakeview Court to celebrate the season.

Jody van de Moosdyk created the display because of his love for the season along with friends and neighbours.

Along with his girlfriend Jennifer Whitbourn this year they added to it by building a cabin. Inside the cabin there is a fireplace with hanging stockings (gloves).

There is something to see not only at the front of the house, but at the side as well.

A Santa Claus is barely hanging on trying to get onto the roof.

“They call me the Christmas Griswold around the street,” van de Moosdyk said as he adds to the collection each year.

“I love Christmas. I’ve always been a big kid at Christmas.

A few years ago, his wife passed away and the spirit of the season seemed to go with it until his son convinced him to put them out again.

“Since then it skyrocketed.”

This is the first year, van de Moosdyk has started collecting for the Fare Share Food Bank if people wish to help out.

A donation bin is by the roadside that is collected each night.

The lights will be on starting from approximately 5 p.m. and go until 11 p.m. now until the end of January.
