Cobourg Police – Youth Arrested for Weapons Offences

On Friday, December 3, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police attended the area of D’Arcy Street in response to an unknown disturbance in the area. Police investigation revealed that a firearm was discharged during a physical altercation involving two youth.

Police confirmed the firearm involved was a pellet gun. Police seized the pellet gun without incident.

As a result, a Cobourg youth was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Carrying concealed weapon contrary to section 90(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Pointing a firearm contrary to section 87(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

4. Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

5. Uttering Threats contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The youth was released from police custody with a future court date. The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
