Cobourg Police – Possession of Controlled Substance

Man arrested for possession of controlled substance following a traffic stop in Cobourg.

On November 18, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the north end of Cobourg.

Police investigation revealed that the male driver had a suspended driver’s licence and was in possession of a quantity of cocaine. As a result, 36-year-old Terry Beaton of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Drive while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

2. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

3. Fail to comply with probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code Beaton was released from police custody on an appearance notice with a future court date.
