Cobourg Legion Branch 133 – Out With the Old and In With the New

In Local, Photo Gallery

The former Legion Branch 133 on Orr Street is coming down in Cobourg.

Workers have been on the site since Tuesday meticulously tearing apart the building piece by piece.

Two large pieces of machinery are placing materials in different bins to be taken away for recycling. From metal, wood and cinder blocks all materials are being sorted.

It will be several days before the entire structure is levelled because of the sorting.

TVM Group owns the property and president Amit Sofer said it was important to recycle as much material from the site as possible.

The new Legion is located directly across from the old one on Orr Street and is approximately the same size.

Legion members have been working on preparing the new facility for opening coming up in the near future.

The Legion and TVM Group have been working on the deal for the properties since 2013.

Once the old Legion has been demolished, the area will become a parking lot exclusively for Legion members.
