Quinte West OPP – Brighton Man Charged with Break and Enter at Hydro Facility

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person following a break and enter at a hydro facility.

On November 6, 2021, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Quinte West OPP was dispatched to a hydro facility on Riverside Drive in Quinte West after receiving a report that a person was seen stealing property from within the compound. Officers attended, and the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area. The accused was located approximately one hour later with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team.

John WAMBOLDT, 53 years old of Brighton has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000;
  • Possess break and enter instruments; and
  • Theft under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 16, 2021.
