Official Start to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign Begins

Friday, October 29th was the official start to this years poppy campaign by the Royal Canadian Legion.

The first poppy was presented to Mayor Henderson by Royal Canadian Legion President Bob Robison and Ladies Auxiliary President Normalee Mitchell in front of Victoria Hall.

The Poppy flag was raised by Sgt. at Arms Don Ramsey with Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf and Acting Inspector Scott Bambridge also in attendance at the Cobourg Police Station for the brief ceremony.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the poppy.  The flag will hang at the Cobourg Police Station until November 11th.

There are 128 poppy boxes are being delivered to area Cobourg businesses. On November 4th to 6th volunteers will be out and about town poppy tagging.

All funds raised during the poppy campaign go to support veterans, their families and our community.

The flag was raised by Sargent at arms Don Ramsey. The police chief and acting inspector were also there.
