A charity golf tournament was held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in Port Hope raising money for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.

Matt Layfield is co-chair of the golf tournament called “OFIC (Old Farts in Carts) Charity Scramble in Support of Ed’s House” being held at the Port Hope Golf and Country Club.

The tournament was named for the men’s league at the Port Hope Golf and Country Club, but the tournament was open to women as well.

The goal of the tournament was to raise funds for furnishing to the rooms at the hospice.

Currently there are six rooms at Ed’s House and the goal is to have ten furnished rooms.

On Wednesday there were 80 players that came out to the tournament.

During the tournament there were a number of prizes including a vehicle for anyone that got a hole-in-one.

With some players divots went further than the balls, and other golfers spent a bit more time then they wanted looking for their ball in the rough.

Layfield said everyone had fun at the tournament that raised over $22,000.
