Northumberland OPP – Three People Charged With Illegal Cannabis Production

(ALNWICK HALDIMAND, ON) – On Tuesday September 28, 2021 members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Canine Unit (K9) executed a Cannabis Act Warrant on County Rd 22, in Alnwick Haldimand Township.

Investigators seized the following items:

  • 1511 cannabis plants
  • 1229 pounds of cannabis bud
  • 280 pounds of cannabis shake

As a result of the investigation police charged the following three individuals:

Philip NELSON (age 54) of Roseneath

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
  • Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Saiying HU (age 49) of Markham

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
  • Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

Guohua WANG (age 51) of Unionville

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution – Cannabis Act 9(2)
  • Cultivate illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act 12(4)(a)

The accused parties were charged and released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on November 3rd, 2021, in the Town of Cobourg.
