Update – Northumberland OPP – Criminal Charges Resulting from Deadly Collision

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On August 4th 2021, at 10:58 p.m., members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene of a fatal collision involving a single motor vehicle that occurred on Sylvan Glen Rd in the municipality Port Hope. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the ditch. As a result of the collision, Serena Shaw (age 23) of Hamilton Township, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased. 

As a result of the investigation, the Northumberland OPP have charged Jason BICKLE (age 39) of Port Hope with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – operation causing death CC 320.14(3)
  • Dangerous operation causing death – CC 320.13(3)
  • Dangerous operation – 320.13(1)

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Cobourg on November 3rd, 2021.
