Fire Destroys Home In Alnwick/Haldimand Township

Flames destroyed a home in Alwnick/Haldimand Township on Monday, September 20, 2021.

At approximately 3 p.m. Alnwick/Haldimand Township firefighters responded to a structure fire on West Road north of Highway 401 between Grafton and Cobourg.

When firefighters arrived on scene, flames were through the roof of the home that was apparently under renovations at the time.

Shortly after arriving Hamilton Township Fire Department was called for assistance.

Trent Hills Fire Department was also called for stand-by at Alnwick/Haldimand Stations while they were at the fire.

The home was apparently used as a recording studio in the 1970’s and in the 1980’s was turned into a residence a neighbour stated.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

There is no cause of the fire at this time, but the home was destroyed in the blaze.
