Trenton’s Ethan Taylor Coming Home to the Golden Hawks

In Hockey

The Trenton Golden Hawks are getting some home-grown talent for the goaltending position.

Head Coach/GM Peter Goulet announced 20-year-old Ethan Taylor, a Quinte West resident, has signed with the GHawks.  “We are thrilled to be welcoming a hometown player into the fold.  Taylor played for the Quinte Red Devils with Jacob Campbell and Dalton Bancroft and made the jump to the Soo in the OHL, where he played for two years.  It was tough that he, like all OHL’ers lost last year in the pandemic, however he will be a great fit at the Dunc.  Ethan’s a big goaltender, patient, has a good stick, rebound control, and poise.”

Taylor says, “I am really excited to be playing for Trenton.  I grew up watching them, and to be able to put that jersey on is fantastic.  Knowing Campbell and Bancroft is also great in assisting in my transition.”   He added, “I am looking to bring my experience in the OHL into our dressing room.  I hope I can lead by example, and show teammates my dedication, effort, and what it takes to win.”

“Rookie camp gave me a chance to see the other players, and I think this season will be fun.  There is exciting talent in this group, and I cannot wait to get started.”

In 2018-19 Taylor won the Dinty Moore Trophy, for best GAA among rookie goaltenders.  He was a 2017-9th round pick of the Greyhounds.
