Durham Police – Suspects Wanted After Two Separate Tow Truck Arsons in Ajax

Police are looking to identify suspect(s) after two separate tow-truck fires overnight in Ajax.

On Monday, August 30, 2021, at approximately 10 p.m., members of West Division responded to a vehicle fire near a residence on Middlecote Drive in Ajax. Officers arrived to find a grey Dodge Ram 3500 tow-truck fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by Ajax Fire and Emergency Services. A suspect was seen running from the scene.

The suspect in this incident is described as male, tanned complexion, mid 20’s, 5’11” to 6’ tall, wearing a grey or white track suit.    

A few hours later, officers responded to the area of Seggar Avenue in Ajax to find a black 2020 GMC Sierra tow truck on fire. The vehicle was fully engulfed but quickly extinguished by Ajax Fire and Emergency Services. There were no suspect descriptors in this incident.

There were no reported injuries in either incident and investigators are treating both incidents as arson.
