Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested for Public Mischief

A woman has been charged with public mischief after making a false report to police.

On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, police began an investigation connected to a single motor vehicle accident reported
in the northeast end of Cobourg. The vehicle was located in the ditch, damaged and abandoned.

The person in charge of the motor vehicle reported that it had been stolen. Police investigation revealed that
this was a false report.

On August 9, 2021, police arrested and charged 39-year-old Danale MCCARRELL of Marmora with the
following offences:

Public mischief contrary to section 140 of the Criminal Code

Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Fail to Remain contrary to section 200 of the Highway Traffic Act

MCCARRELL was released from police custody on an Appearance Notice and a Summons with a future court
date.
