Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Possession of Weapon

On the morning of Sunday, July 25, police were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Elgin Street East
when officers observed a man walk out of a wooded area and onto the road carrying a rifle.


Police arrested the man without incident. Through Police investigation, the rifle was determined to be an
inoperable pellet rifle, and 35-year old Robert CLEMENTS of Cobourg was charged with the following:

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code

Failure to comply with a probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Police seized the pellet rifle before CLEMENTS was released from custody on an appearance notice with a
future court date.
