The roar of thunder will soon be heard in Alderville at Crowe Karts on County Road 45.
Well, maybe not thunder.
On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, nearly all of the 240 cubic metres of concrete was poured around the winding track which is over 700 feet long.
In fact, with one cement truck holding approximately eight cubic metres of concrete, it took approximately 30 truck loads of concrete to complete the job.
With over 20 workers smoothing out the track.
Owner of Crowe Karts, Larry Crowe has been keeping a close eye on the project..
Crowe says he was approached by staff members from his other businesses and friends about a go-kart track.
It was as simple as seeing something on television about go-karts, “and I said, “let’s do it.”
Like most other things that have taken place within recent memory there have been a few COVID delays.
The designer of the track is from Connecticut and flew into Toronto, but because of COVID regulations wasn’t allowed in the Country.
Nicholson Bros Excavating and Slinger Service out of Campbellford came on-board.
The blueprints were sent and through many on-line conference calls the track is becoming a reality.
A total of 15, two-seat go-karts were shipped out from Oregon so Crowe is hopeful the go-kart track will be up and running by August for family fun.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve had fun. It’s been a year-and-a-half with COVID so hopefully we get this open and the kids will have fun this summer.”
Along with the race track, Crowe said there will be a canteen.
Future plans are for a batting cage and other activities.
