Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Fraud

In Police Blotter

On the evening of June 12, 2021, police attended a call for service for fraud in progress at a local business in
the north end of Cobourg.

A man was located inside the business. Police investigation revealed that he was switching price tags to
reduce the price of several items before purchase.

As a result, 46-year-old John HADDOW of Port Hope was arrested and charged with the following:
Fraud under 5000$ contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

HADDOW was released on an appearance notice with a future court date.

The Cobourg Police Service reminds business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video
surveillance equipment. Quality images help identify suspects, aid in arrests and have an impact during court
proceedings.
