Cobourg Police Services Board is Seeking Candidates to Fill Deputy Chief Position

In Police Blotter

An internal and external search is underway.
The Cobourg Police Services Board (CPSB) has launched a robust hiring process to fill the position of Deputy Chief of the Cobourg Police Service (CPS).

The CPSB maintains the responsibility of hiring for the Deputy Chief and Chief of Police positions. A search for
the next Deputy Chief of CPS is driven by a redesign of organizational needs after the recent retirement
announcement of Inspector Jeff Sheils.

At today’s (June 15, 2021) board meeting, the CPSB approved a recruitment plan to fill the position. The recruitment plan will
be executed by the Cobourg Police Services Board with support from Chief Financial Officer/HR, Roger
Ramkissoon.

“The Deputy Chief position has been vacant since Chief VandeGraaf was sworn in as Chief of Police. With
Inspector Sheils’ upcoming retirement, we look to find someone with the experience and skills to step into the
Deputy Chief role. Filling this position highlights the importance of operational leadership and the support
required to advance our commitment to EDII, further embrace our community policing model, and manage
competing priorities driven by a new strategic plan,” says Dean Pepper, Chair of the Cobourg Police Services
Board.

The CPSB will be accepting applications until July 16, 2021 with an anticipated start date of January 2022.
Details of the posting can be found on cobourgpoliceservice.com/careers.
