Friday morning (May 28, 2021) police reported a deer was in the inner harbour at Cobourg and eventually it’s believe the deer went beyond the lighthouse and back into Victoria Beach where it collapsed.

Numerous departments in Cobourg including Cobourg Police and off-duty firefighter Rick Martin managed to put a blanket around the deer and Martin took the deer to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre for treatment.

“Sorry to say he did not survive,” Director Sue Meech stated to Today’s Northumberland.

“He was hypothermic and as we tried to rewarm him with hot packs and warm IV fluids, he had a seizure and died.
Meech said, “the rescuers made a heroic effort to save this deer. We all thank them for that.”
