Ministry of Labour Called In To Investigate After Man’s Leg Pinned In Garbage Truck

Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate after a garbage truck operator became pinned in a truck on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in Port Hope.

At approximately 1:12 p.m. emergency services were called to the area of Trefusis Street just west of Victoria Street North after a Miller Waste Systems truck operator’s foot/leg became pinned in the compacting part of the truck.

When fire crews arrived the compactor had gone through the cycle and the man’s leg was freed.

He was rushed to hospital with a potential serious injury to his leg.

The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate.

There is no update on the man’s condition.
