Quinte West OPP – Warrant Executed at Cannabis Grow Op

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people following a large scale seizure of illicit cannabis in Quinte West.


On April 13, 2021, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), along with the Quinte West OPP and OPP Emergency R esponse Team (ERT) executed a search warrant of a commercial property on Harrington Road. Two people were charged after more than 1100 cannabis plants, and approximately 71 pounds of dried cannabis valued at around $1,200,000 were seized.


Yi LI, 58 years old and Kongyong NI, 34 years of Markham have both been charged with the following under the Cannabis Act:


Cultivate, propagate, or harvest any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling-house; and
Possessing cannabis for the purpose of sale


Additionally, NI has been charged with two counts failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 13, 2021.


The other accused was released from custody on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 31, 2021.
