The Golden Plough Lodge has been out of outbreak since Feb. 5, Administrator Bill Detlor announced this week to the Northumberland Council Community Health standing committee.

And to add another piece of good news, Detlor announced that all their residents have been vaccinated.

“We are told by public health we will e receiving vaccine tomorrow and the next day for staff,” he added.

Twenty of those vaccines are earmarked for emergency care givers – that would cover about one-third of their complement.

More recently, COVID testing has changed at the facility, the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests being phased out in favour of the Rapid Antigen Testing as per the instructions from the Ministry of Long-Term Care.

This is more of a screening tool than a diagnostic one, Detlor noted. And should an outbreak situation happen again, they would bring back the PCR tests.
