Quinte West OPP – Three People Charged Following Multiple Thefts

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three people following a string of thefts.


On February 20, 2021, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Quinte West OPP responded to a shoplifting incident at a business on 2nd Dug Hill Road in Trenton. Police arrested three people and recovered approximately $2200 in stolen merchandise. Quinte West Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted with the investigation and it was learned that the accused persons were su spected to be involved in several other thefts across the province. A search warrant was executed on a motor vehicle at the scene and police recovered an additional $5000 worth of suspected stolen property.


Shahbaz SINGH, 26 years old of Brampton and Simarjit GARCHA, 30 years old of St. Catherines were each charged with three counts of theft under $5000.
Harendra SINGH, 23 years old of Mississauga has been charged with:
Theft under $5000 – three counts
Possession of property obtained by crime
Obstruct peace officer; and
Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court


All three accused were held in custody and were scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 21, 2021. The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are expected.
