Northumberland OPP – Brighton Driver Charged with Impaired After Hitting Hydro Pole

On Monday January 25, 2021, at approximately 10:00 pm, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with emergency personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Old Wooler Road just west of Dalmas Road.

A blue Nissan SUV failed to negotiate a curve while travelling on Old Wooler Road, it went into a ditch and collided with a hydro pole before coming to a stop on a resident’s front yard. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was transported to a local area hospital as a precautionary measure then released.

As a result of the investigation, Hailey Brown (age 27) of Brighton, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on March 3, 2021.
