Northumberland OPP – Ditched Vehicle Results in Impaired Charge

(CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday January 24, 2021, at approximately 3:00 am, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Cramahe Township Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedic Services, responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Highway 401 just east of the Big Apple in Cramahe Township.

Officers located the grey Toyota 4 door sedan that had been travelling eastbound and rolled on its roof in the south side ditch. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was found to be uninjured and under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation a 38-year-old male from North York, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The driver, who was found to be a novice class licenced driver was additionally charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on a date in March 2021.
