Cobourg Announces Reduced Transit Schedule

In City Hall

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Following Wednesday’s special emergency meeting of Cobourg council in light of the provincial emergency declaration, the town is reminding residents of the reduced transit schedule that takes effect January 26.

Conventional Transit (Routes 1 and 2) will operate from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. weekdays and from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Saturdays – no Sunday service.

WHEELS Transit will operate from 6:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. weekdays, from 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturdays, and from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Sundays.

For all riders, COVID-19 safety protocols remain in place. Non-medical masks or face coverings are mandatory on all buses and at transit shelters to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

All riders are also reminded – due to the current provincial orders – that the use of public transit should be only for the purposes of such essential trips as are outlined in the regulations.

These new hours will remain in effect until the provincial stay-at-home order and declaration of emergency have been lifted.
