Peterborough Couple Wins $100,000 Top Prize with Instant 5x The Cash

In Local

James Dufresne and Jennifer (Jenny) White of Peterborough are $100,000 richer after winning with INSTANT 5X THE CASH (Game #2212).

“I love playing INSTANT games and had a dream I won on one recently,” shared James, a regular lottery player, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up the couple’s cheque. “Now I feel like every morning I will wake up and this will all be a dream!”

“I played the ticket in the store and was shocked to see the $100,000 prize value. I self-scanned the ticket twice in disbelief!” shared the 52-year old. “I left the store with the ticket and the quarter I used to scratch it still in my fingertips. I drove straight home to Jenny.”

“We were so worried about losing the ticket!” laughed Jenny.

Good fortune seems to be surrounding James these days. “On our way to the OLG Prize Centre we stopped to fuel up. When I went into the store to pay, the customer in front of me won the POKER LOTTO ALL IN jackpot!”

The proud parents and grandparents will decide what to do with their winnings together. “James has always dreamt of having his own custom canoe. He’s been borrowing his parents’ for 25 years. He’s excited to buy his own!” Jenny concluded.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by-appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Players should contact the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options or to schedule an appointment.

INSTANT 5X THE CASH is available for $5 and the top prize is $100,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.81. Visit the INSTANT page on OLG.ca for more information on this and other great games.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on George Street in Peterborough.
