In Editor Choice, Local

The cab of a transport was destroyed by fire on Highway 401 in Cramahe Township on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

At approximately 1:10 a.m. Cramahe Township Fire Department were called to Highway 401 westbound lanes just west of County Road 25.

When crews arrived on scene the cab was engulfed in flames and the trailer was unhooked and away from the fire.  Both the transport and cab were on the gravel shoulder of the highway.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut down at County Road 25 for approximately one hour while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

Both fuel tans created problems and extinguishers and foam had to be applied.

Before fire crews left, they used a thermal imaging device to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

The trailer was carrying food products. No cause of the fire and the driver was not injured.
