Peterborough County OPP – OPP Make Child Luring Arrest

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in relation to child luring in the County of Peterborough.

On October 8, 2020 members of the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit assisted by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) began an investigation in to the luring of a person under 16 years of age. The suspect was arrested on October 21, 2020.

Jason ADAMS (age 38) of Peterborough, Ontario is charged with:

Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication

The accused appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough for a bail hearing on October 22, 2020.

The Ontario Provincial Police will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children.

Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding internet safety. Parents can find resources to assist them at cybertip.ca.
