The Town of Cobourg would like to advise the community that the municipality will be carrying out extra precautionary measures to slow the risk of spread of COVID-19 by allowing some staff to work remotely.

At present Town of Cobourg employees at all work sites have been given the opportunity to work remotely whenever and wherever possible. Managers have identified an approach that is both
flexible while also ensuring continued critical municipal government operations and services to the community continue. Working remotely is not feasible for some positions as some functions cannot be fulfilled from a location other than a designated workplace or work environment.

“Since the pandemic we’ve taken extra safety precautions to reduce the potential risk of spread of COVID-19 within our municipal buildings by not only closing to the public but by also allowing staff to work from home,” said Tracey Vaughan, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Cobourg. “Staff that are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home have proven that they can effectively do so. Our focus on serving our community and moving the business of the municipality forward has never wavered.”

The Town of Cobourg would like to remind the community that although municipal buildings, aside from the Community Centre, remain closed our commitment on delivering exceptional customer service and continuing to move the business of the Town forward remains at the forefront. Municipal staff are answering emails and responding to phone calls daily while also continuing to deliver services safely and effectively.

As an additional reminder the Town of Cobourg also offers in-person appointments where necessary in order to continue conducting municipal business.

Please contact the appropriate department to discuss this option. All departmental contact information can be found on the Town’s website within the Contact Directory.
