Cobourg Police – Youths Arrested for Weapons Related Offences

On September 28th, at 1:00 pm, officers from the Cobourg Police Service were dispatched to a call near Elgin Street and D’Arcy Street with reports of a firearm discharge and a fight involving several youths. Upon police arrival, it was determined that a youth was struck by at least one pellet from an airsoft pistol and was threatened by an individual carrying a knife.
As a result of the police investigation, two individuals were arrested.

One youth was charged with the following offences:
1. Weapons Possession for a Dangerous Purpose Contrary to sec.88 Criminal Code of Canada
2. Carry Concealed Weapon Contrary to sec.90 Criminal Code of Canada
3. Uttering Threats, Contrary to sec. 264.1(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada

A second youth was charged with the following offences;
1. Weapons Possession for a Dangerous Purpose Contrary to sec.88 Criminal Code of Canada
2. Carry Concealed Weapon Contrary to sec.90 Criminal Code of Canada
3. Assault with a Weapon Contrary to sec. 267(a) Criminal Code of Canada
4. Discharge air pistol/gun with intent to wound, Contrary to sec. 244.1(a)

Both accused were released with conditions with a future court date.

In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of the youths will be withheld.
