Northumberland County – Invites Residents to Participate in Next Round of Internet Speed Testing

In City Hall

Residents are invited to participate in Northumberland County’s second round of free online internet speed testing as part of efforts to gather data about local internet connection speeds, as the County develops a strategy to address broadband challenges in Northumberland.

The Broadband Strategy is being developed as part of Northumberland County’s Digital Strategy, and in response to recommendations made by the industry-led Northumberland Economic Recovery Task Force to help promote economic recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.

As Northumberland County embarks on the development of a strategy, the data collection phase will ensure an accurate representation of the current state of broadband capacity in Northumberland. Residents and businesses who have not yet completed the internet speed test, initially launched in December 2019, are invited to participate to assist in this research process.

Information gathered during the test will be used to make informed, data-driven decisions around future broadband enhancements.

To ensure accurate and comprehensive data is obtained, participants are asked to complete the speed test at each of the following times:

· Once between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

· Once between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

· Once between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
