Interim Fire Chief for Cramahe Township

In Local

Cramahe Township Council has appointed Bruce Greatrix as Interim Fire Chief. Bruce will be with the fire department until such time as the position is filled.

Greatrix joined the fire service as a volunteer firefighter with the Township of Thurlow in 1975 and became its Fire Chief in 1995. Bruce then took a position as Deputy Fire Chief of the newly formed Belleville Fire Department, with the amalgamation of the Township of Thurlow and the City of Belleville. Greatrix was also the Alternate Coordinator appointed by the Ontario Fire Marshal for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties and the Alternate CEMC for the City of Belleville. Bruce retired from the fire service on December 31, 2017.

Greatrix has been offering assistance, mentorship and review of policies with the Cramahe Township Fire Department for just over a month.

He has agreed to step in and serve while Cramahe Township investigates options for leadership.

Greatrix is looking forward to working with the firefighters.
