Cobourg Library Re-Opens For First Time Since March

After over five months of being closed, the Cobourg Public Library is once again open.

Last time the library was fully open was on Friday, March 13, 2020 when it closed due to COVID-19.

Opening at noon on Monday, August 24, 2020 there was actually a short line-up of people waiting.

CEO Tammy Robinson spoke with Today’s Northumberland about the opening.

“It’s been steady, but not overwhelming. We’ve had nothing but positive comments. One person came up to me, started to bow and said, “I’m not worthy about coming in yet.”

With COVID-19, there are a number of changes at the library.

Masks are mandatory along with sanitizing.

The second floor is closed at this time due to staffing levels.

If people choose not to enter the library, the can order books and pick them up the following day in the Rotary room which is across the hall from the library.

A staff member is located in the lobby to help guide people as they enter the building.

The computer lab has been moved to the main floor.

Plexi-glass is around all the service desks.

There is a maximum of 25 patrons allowed in at one time.

The hours are
12 – 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday
Closed – Sunday
