Northumberland OPP – 19 Individuals Charged After Search Warrant Executed in Trent Hills

An investigation led by the Ontario Provicial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) from Northumberland, Peterborough and City of Kawartha Lakes, has resulted in nineteen individuals being arrested and charged after a Cannabis Act Warrant was executed at a rural property just south of Hastings on August 19, 2020.
The Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit assisted with the execution of the warrant which resulted in the following items being seized:

1874 cannabis marihuana plants

$920.00 in Canadian currency

John Deere farm tractor

Video surveillance equipment

Jin Feng CHAN (age 48), Shu Zhu CHAN (age 45), Yu Hua CHAN (age53), Yong Chun DU (age 36), Alfred Jing GAO (age 37), Jun Ping HANG (age 32), Jun LI (age 48), Pin Zhu LI (age 54), Xi Mei LI (age 48), Li Xin LIN (age 62), Li LING (age 35) Li Yun LIU (age 38), Zhu Xin LIU (age 53), Xiao YANG (age 33), Xiufeng YANG (age 50), Yuxia ZHENG (age 57) from Trent Hills, Ontario, Ming Guang WU (age 55) of North York Ontario, and Hang WANG (age 40) of Scarborough, Ontario were arrested and each charged with:
Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four plants at one time in dwelling-house

Alfred Jing GAO and Xiao YANG were additionally charged with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

Possession for the purpose of distributing

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Prior to the execution of the warrant, a rental truck was observed leaving the property and subsequently stopped by uniform officers. 610 pounds of cannabis bud with a potential street value of $300,000 was seized from the rear of the truck.

The driver Ququan CHEN (age 50) from Quinte West, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four plants at one time in dwelling-house

Each of the accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 28, 2020.
