Breaking News – Violent Armed Robbery at Colborne Bank

(CRAMAHE, ON) – On August 7th, 2020 around 10:55 am, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding an armed robbery in progress at the CIBC branch located in Colborne. A male had entered into the premises armed with what appeared to be a hand gun, and took an undisclosed amount of money as well as a necklace, and fled in a vehicle waiting outside the bank, driven by an accomplice. The accomplice is described as a black male and is believed to have remained in the vehicle.
Two people were grabbed and pushed in the robbery.  The victims were treated by paramedics at the scene.

The male suspect in the bank is described as:

· Black male, between 20-30 years of age.
· Approximately 145-150 lbs
· 5’9” in height
· Athletic build
· Short curly hair
· Dressed in baggy black pants and a black long sleeve shirt, white framed sunglasses, with white Nike shoes (suspect may have changed into a white shirt after the occurrence)

The vehicle is described as:

· 4 door Toyota sedan
· Grey in colour

A car matching the description was spotted just north of Highway 401, west of County Road 45 in Hamilton Township a short time after the robbery. The car matched the description of the vehicle involved in the robbery. A person was spotted changing license plates on the vehicle. OPP attended the scene, but the vehicle had left the area.

The Northumberland OPP is asking for the public’s assistance with this ongoing investigation and would ask anyone with information to call their nearest OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
