Transport Cab Goes Up In Flames East of Cobourg on Highway 401

A transport cab went up in flames early Thursday morning on Highway 401 east of Cobourg.

Cobourg Fire Department and Hamilton Township Fire Department were called to the fire at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between Cobourg and Grafton.

While responding crews were updated it was a confirmed fire in the cab area.

Arriving on scene, crews not only had to concentrate on the fire, but also passing traffic along the highway.

Northumberland County Paramedics and Northumberland OPP also attended the scene.

The driver spoke with Today’s Northumberland and said he saw a small spark on the dash of the cab and after pulling over in a short period of time the cab was engulfed in flames.

The fire did not spread to the trailer part which was carrying garbage bags.
