Peterborough County OPP – Collision Involving OPP Forensics Van Sends Two to Hospital

Special Investigations Unit Invokes their Mandate

Shortly before 6:30 pm on May 23, 2020, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Peterborough Paramedic Services, and Peterborough Fire Services responded to a collision in the intersection of Television Road and Highway 7.

A sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with an OPP Forensic Identification van causing t he police van to roll onto its side in the intersection.

The male driver of the SUV was uninjured, however the female passenger of the SUV was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injures.

The officer driving the OPP Forensic Identification van was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.

The OPP has notified the provincial Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and they have invoked their mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information about this occurrence. Any inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at 1-800-787-8529.
