HKPR District Health Unit Communications spokesperson Chandra Tremblay, the HKPR District Health Unit does not receive any information about the number of tests conducted.

The Health Unit does not do any of the actual testing. Testing is being done through other organizations, including hospital assessment centres, community health teams and some paramedic partnerships.

All of these swabs are sent to the provincial labs and then the Health Unit is only sent any of the confirmed positive test results so that our staff can begin case and contact management and medical surveillance with anyone who has received a positive test result. The Health Unit does not receive any information about the negative tests or the number of tests that have been completed.

The province does receive information from the labs about the number of tests conducted, and so they are able to provide a cumulative total of the number of tests conducted.
