Northumberland OPP – Collision Results In Impaired Charges

Just before 7:00 am on Saturday May 2, 2020, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 2 near Branscombe Road located west of the town of Brighton.

Officers arrived on scene and found a grey Chevrolet four door sedan on the north side of County Road 2 with severe damage within the perimeter of a cemetery at that location. The driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was transported to a local area hospital to be treated for injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

Taylor Elizabeth HARYETT (age 25), of Quinte West, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Drive while under suspension

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 24, 2020.

The Northumberland County OPP reminds motorists that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
